Celebrating the Impact of Teacher Professional Development
In August 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, SEV Academy was reborn with a new team, a new purpose, and a new approach. Our vision was to be pioneers in personal and professional development for educators, an institution of higher learning committed to elevating the quality of teaching and learning across the SEV schools and throughout Turkey. We set out to be a leader in online and hybrid professional development; to provide teachers with courses differentiated to fit their needs; and to inspire a passion for learning.
This site is our way of saying 'thank you' to the amazing teachers and educational leaders who have dedicated themselves to learning over the past three years—to those who have shared this journey with us and made a tangible impact in their schools and with their students.
Our role has always been to provide the tools, resources, and guidance that teachers need to develop themselves and each other. As true as it is for all learners, they did all the work. This site is a collection of their stories, their insights, their reflections—a celebration of their impact. Our hope is that these case studies highlight some of the best practices taking place around the SEV schools and, in turn, inspire you and others to take risks, try something new, and continue learning together. Featured Case Studies
Two groups of teachers from across disciplies used the structure of SEV-104: Motivating Learning through Authentic Assessment to come together and create multi-disciplinary units of study for elective courses at Üsküdar American.
The Lise 10 Turkish Language & Literature teachers challenged themselves, each other, and their students to engage in a PBL unit that united the students across the entire grade to create a multi-media performance unlike any other.
The school administrators at every level of the Üsküdar SEV Schools started this past year with open minds and gained new perspectives about observing their teachers and giving feedback that improves teacher learning and instruction.
